Our Founding

Nearly a century of
faith in action

In April of 1931, a small group of St. Paul Catholic Church parishioners answered the call to serve their neighbors by establishing a Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul right here in this parish — a ministry of compassion that has continued without interruption ever since.

For more than nine decades, our Vincentians have gone out not as social workers, but as friends and neighbors — with the love of Christ, and the knowledge that we do not go alone.

“We thank you, Lord, for the many blessings we receive from those whom we visit. Help us to love and respect them, to understand their deeper needs, and to share their burdens and joys as true friends in Christ.”

— Closing prayer of the St. Paul Catholic Church SVDP Conference
Our Ministry

Helping neighbors,
one visit at a time

Home Visits

We visit neighbors at home — always in pairs — to listen, assess needs, and provide direct assistance with dignity and privacy.

Personal Assistance

We assess each neighbor’s situation individually and do our best to help with whatever resources we have available. No two situations are alike, and we never make promises we can’t keep.

Giving Tree

Each Christmas, our Giving Tree brings holiday cheer and essential goods to families, extending care and connection through the season.

Referral & Resources

When needs extend beyond our capacity, we connect neighbors with other agencies and ministries so no one is left without a path forward.

“Let us love God, but let it be with the work of our hands and the sweat of our brows.”
— St. Vincent de Paul

Our conference is part of a global family of more than 800,000 Vincentians in 155 countries, united in one mission and animated by one spirit — and the intercession of St. Vincent de Paul.

How It Works

How we serve our neighbors

1

A Request Is Made

A neighbor reaches out by phone or email. We receive every request with care and without judgment.

2

A Home Visit Is Arranged

Two Vincentians visit the neighbor at home — always in pairs, as Christ sent his disciples. This personal encounter is the heart of what we do.

3

We Assess & Respond

Together we assess needs and available resources, then provide whatever assistance we can — always guided by compassion, never by formula.

4

We Walk Alongside

We go not as social workers but as friends and neighbors — offering ongoing connection, referrals, and the dignity of being truly known.
